What Does God Say About Friendship?

Chosen by God!

As we evaluate our goals for 2016 keep in mind the importance of where we seek wisdom. Everyone cannot speak life into your situation.

To stand firm in our faith without wavering, we are to trust in the Lord wholeheartedly and demonstrate integrity in all that we do. Both Psalms 1 and 27 give clear instructions on how the righteous are to live, who we are to associate with, and what we can expect from God when we choose His way.

They remind us that we must choose who we go to for insight and advice. How can an unbeliever give us insight and even wisdom when they don’t have common ground with believers? Would you let a teacher operate on your body? No, we would go to the person with the expertise about the issue we’re having. The same is true in spiritual matters. We must seek wisdom from other believers, preferably spiritually mature believer, whose source is the Word and have a solid relationship with the Lord.

As I read both Psalms I was reminded of this Scripture:

“Do not be mismatched with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?” (II Corinthians 6:14 HCSB)

I love the way the Message breaks it down:

“Don’t become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That’s not partnership; that’s war. Is light best friends with dark?” (II Corinthians 6:14 MSG)

Who we are connected to matters. Choose your connections wisely, with the help of the Holy Spirit. It might mean making some changes in your circle. Trust God to determine who should be in your life, and whose season is over. Make a determination to opt for Divine Connections every time! Your spiritual health and purpose depend on it.

Be Encouraged! ❤
