Chosen by God!
When we walk out of God’s will, we should welcome God’s discipline that He has designed to restore our relationship with Him. We are His children and He wants the best for us. A Christian with a very sensitive conscience misapply God’s discipline, mistaking it for condemnation, forgetting about His love, grace, and forgiveness, when we walk out of God’s will. While God’s love for us is unconditional and everlasting, it is also corrective. God’s love does not allow us to be undisciplined or remain spiritually immature.
There are boundaries set up for our safety and growth. When we walk outside of those boundaries and experience God’s discipline we must remember He disciplines in love without condemnation. Discipline without love is abuse. The enemy brings condemnation and accusations with no hope, causing us to question our salvation. He wants us to believe that what we’ve done cannot ever be forgiven, which can cause us to discount God’s love, forgiveness, grace, and mercy toward us and not avail ourselves of them.
When I blow it I'm thankful for Jeremiah 31:3, 1 John 1:9, Lamentations 3:23, and Romans 8:1-2. They remind me of God’s everlasting love for me, His forgiveness, His new mercies, and that there is no condemnation from Him which allows me to begin again. The good news is we can use these Scriptures as many times as needed. There is no expiration date because God does not give up on us. God’s discipline is not disconnection from Him. It actually strengthens our connection to Him reminding us that we are His children and He loves us.
