God's Amazing Grace For Us
Chosen by God!
When we worship , we should express our deep appreciation to God for setting us free from past sins. While John Newton, a former slave owner, who penned “Amazing Grace,” had a deep appreciate of God’s grace we too can relate to how amazing God’s grace toward humankind is. It’s not about degree of sin but the fact that we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.” (Romans 3:23-24 NLT)
We are all in need of His grace and thankfully no one is excluded from His grace. Without God’s amazing grace we would spend eternity lost, separated from Him. We would live this life in hopelessness and without power. When you think of all we would not have, or could not be, grace, God’s grace is the sweetest sound a sinner could ever hear. His grace, His mercy, is what saved us. There is nothing we did, or can do, to earn salvation.
“But – When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:4-5 NLT)
Because of sin, we were lost and blind. Because of grace we are free and can see truth, God’s Truth:
“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 AMP)
This why, and how, we are the recipients of God’s amazing grace.
Lord, thank You for Your “Amazing Grace” that saved me, making me Yours for eternity. I am forever amazed by Your grace.
