Chosen by God!

To experience the positive benefits that come with divine wisdom, we must live our lives motivated by godly fear.

“The [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; But arrogant fools despise [skillful and godly] wisdom and instruction and self-discipline.” (Proverbs 1:7 AMP)

It is important to understand what it means to fear and reverence God. We must also, at the same time, have a sense of comfort in His presence as our heavenly Father.

God does not want us to be afraid of Him. When we speak of fear of the Lord it means, to me, honoring Who He is and having reverential respect for Who He is.

We must learn how to enter God’s presence. There is preparation that has to take place before we can effectively commune with God. We must become spiritually sensitive to who God is, we can’t come to Him any old way. Our approach should be one of reverence, acknowledging that He is God, the Creator of the universe and that He is holy.

To be in the presence of a holy God, we must address our sin, which is the next step. We must come clean, emptying all our secrets and disobedience before God. While He already knows the state of our hearts, He requires us to bring it before Him, through confession. Our sin must be dealt with. We cannot hide it or ignore it. We must boldly confess it, ask God for forgiveness, and allow God to deal with our sin. True repentance is a willingness to change our ways and walk in His ways. It’s a desire to do the will of God instead of succumbing to our own selfish wills, which would lead us to death and destruction.

When we approach God from a heart of reverence and repentance we avail ourselves of His wisdom and His unconditional and everlasting love for us.
