Preach the Word, Not a Watered Down Gospel

Chosen by God!

To discover God’s will, we should meditate on God’s inspired Word. Everything we need is found in the Word of God. Once we become believers the Scriptures should become the foundation on which our relationship with God is based. It’s the only way we can establish intimacy with Him. Establishing time in the Word and in His Presence daily is critical to growth as Christians and intimacy with God.

We live in a world where more emphasis is placed on how we feel and giving solutions/suggestions on how to feel good than on developing character, especially godly character. This is even happening in our churches. Too many churches are preaching a “feel good,” watered down message and distorting the Gospel so as not to offend anyone. In some cases, the Word of God isn’t even referenced during the service.

We are commanded to:

“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” (II Timothy 4:2 NKJV)

Sadly, we are living in these times:

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” (II Timothy 2:3-4 NKJV)

Instead of being salt and light, some have lost their taste and dimmed, even extinguished, their light by preaching and teaching a watered down Gospel so as not to offend anyone. Sadly, they have no problem offending Jesus by diminishing the impact of His Words, His life, death, and resurrection.

The church needs to stop trying to be politically correct and concentrate on being biblically correct, no matter what the cost, given the price Jesus already paid. It’s not about being liked, or being popular, it’s about telling truth so people won’t spend eternity separated from God, in hell! And contrary to what is being preached at times, hell is real and everyone is NOT going to heaven.
