Chosen by God!

Though God has created each of us with a free will, we are to acknowledge that He is sovereign over all aspects of His creation, including our personal lives. In my Life Essentials Bible study we were asked, “What happens when Christians attempt to logically and definitively resolve this divine mystery regarding God’s sovereignty and our free will?” Dr. Getz stated, “To attempt to answer this question definitively and logically will lead us to serious imbalances and confusion. In our humanness, we cannot fully comprehend this mystery.”

In His sovereignty God uses everything to bring about His purposes. As believers we must rejoice and relax in this wonderful truth that in His sovereignty God is good. We must remember that love is the foundation of His character and the basis of His actions.

Ultimately, there are some things that we must take on faith and an unwavering trust in God's goodness and love for us. Our minds cannot comprehend His thoughts or reasons.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways.” This is the Lord’s declaration. “For as heaven is higher than earth, so My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 HCSB)

On this we can rest assured:

“For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God.” (John 3:17-18 HCSB)
