Chosen by God!
To experience fellowship and encouragement in an oppressive and unfair world, we must become members of Christ’s spiritual family. God has designed the church to meet our deepest needs, even when our human families have been horribly dysfunctional. He has placed everything we need within His body of believers. We can be nurtured, encouraged, counseled, loved, prayed for, motivated, corrected, fed, clothed, taught, and so much more by being connected to a body of believers that are anchored and rooted in the Word of God.
Where we go to church is one of the most important decisions we can make after accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior and making Him Lord of our lives. It should not be done causally or taken lightly. It is so important that we be in place, ready to grow and to serve.
For these reasons, and more, this command from the Word is very important:
“And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:24-25 HCSB)
