Chosen by God!
No matter what our failures as a community of believers, we should determine to move forward once we've dealt with our sin issues. Some of the reasons Christians have a difficult time forgiving their fellow Christians are:
~The pain involved
~Not understanding the gift of grace or forgiveness
~Not understanding that we were/are forgiven of so much, when we didn’t deserve it. (Kind of reminds me of the servant that was forgiven millions and then had someone that owed him a few dollars thrown in jail! When the king was told he had that servant thrown in jail and tortured until he could pay off the original debt! See Matthew 18:21-35)
~Degrees are put on sin with the outcome of small sin big sin, whereas to God sin is sin. If you lie or commit murder you’ve sinned and the punishment is the same until you repent and change!
~Wanting people to pay because secretly you’re glad it happened to them.
Ultimately many Christians don’t understand that forgiveness is truly about restoration and love. Unforgiveness is one of most crippling things a Christian can carry. It blocks our access to God! No one and nothing is worth that!
Strife, offense, unforgiveness paralyze us and stills the hand of God!
“In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what we do. We can't get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If we refuse to do our part, we cut ourselves off from God's part.” (Matthew 6:14-15 MSG)
Nothing, or no one, is worth being cut off from God!
