God's Way or the World's Way - You Choose

Chosen by God!

“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15 AMPC)

To walk in God’s will throughout our time on earth, we must deliberately choose to serve Him rather than the gods of this world. Joshua’s life gives us many examples of how we should walk in the will of God. Joshua started off believing God and being mentored by Moses. During this time of walking with Moses, watching the interaction between him and God Joshua learned the importance of walking close with God regardless of the circumstances and in spite of the people’s, he was connected too, rebellion. My take away is that while mentoring is key it does not replace quality time in God’s Presence and in His Word.

We learn through Joshua’s life the importance of seeking God’s guidance in all things. We cannot do this life alone and we should not make decisions without consulting God. We also learn that when we do make decisions in the moment, without seeking God, we should ask God for forgiveness and seek His counsel. We should not compound the bad decisions with more bad decisions.

Joshua’s life teaches us the importance of living God’s way and the impact on our families and those around us. Joshua’s life shows us that a life lived in the will of God leaves a legacy. Finally, Joshua’s life shows us that we please God when live in His will.

What choice will you make - do it God's way or the world's way?

"There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but at the end of it is the way of death." (Proverbs 14:12 AMPC)
