You Matter to God

Chosen by God!

“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their distress and troubles. The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent.” (Psalm 34:17-18 AMPC)

When the righteous cry for help – righteous, to me denotes relationship, known by God – we get His attention. In this verse the righteous cry for help and the Lord not only hears them, He delivers them from their distress and troubles. He doesn’t ignore our cry for help, He responds to our cry by delivering us. He’s that close to the righteous. He hears us when we call and He responds. Our broken hearts matter to Him. He is concerned to the point that He will save us from our crushed hearts and when we are sorry for our sins.

Our tears matter to God:

“You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless nights, Each tear entered in your ledger, each ache written in your book.” (Psalm 56:8 MSG)

God is reminding us that we can cry for help because we have relationship, an intimate one-on-one relationship with Him. We are connected by the blood of Jesus. Because He is our Savior and Lord of your life you can cry out to Him and expect Him to deliver you. There is no distress or trouble that God cannot handle. What’s more important is we are reminded that we don’t have to face anything alone. He’s just an utterance, a cry, away. He’s close when your heart breaks. He’s close when you are crushed with sorrow for sin and ask for forgiveness. He’s close.

You can also take courage in the fact that there is forgiveness for sin and that the enemy is the accuser, not God. Then we must embrace 1st John 1:9, (“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” NKJV) to receive forgiveness and cleansing, Romans 8:1, (“Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior].” AMPC), so we remember that there is no condemnation from God towards us, and Lamentations 3:22-24, (“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, says my soul, Therefore I hope in Him!” NKJV), so we can walk boldly in God’s faithfulness and new mercies each day. When we make Him your portion you can be assured that when you fall He will help you get back up, and back on track, when you have totally surrendered your life to Him.

Faith Confession:

Lord, thank You that because of Jesus You count me as righteous. Because of this relationship I can cry out to You for help and You hear me. Thank You for not only hearing me but delivering me out of all of my distress and troubles.

Lord, I treasure that You are close to me when my heart is broken. You save me when I am crushed with sorrow. You forgive my sins when I ask You for forgiveness. Thank You for relationship that causes You to look down and see me. I love You, Abba Father.
