Hope in God

Updated: Jan 7, 2020

Chosen by God!

“Why am I so overwrought, Why am I so disturbed? Why can’t I just hope in God? Despite all my emotions, I will believe and praise the One who saves me, my God.” (Psalm 42:11 The Voice)

Overwrought and disturbed. Allowing the cares of life to determine emotions. Remembering God and reminding yourself to just hope in Him. Why is that so hard? Why isn’t that automatic? Getting to the point of putting emotions in the background and choosing to praise God. Remembering He saved you so He’s worthy of praise.

There are many times I allow myself, possibly even choose to, become overwrought and disturbed by circumstances, and people. Then after a time of being disturbed I remember I don’t have to be, I can have peace, God’s peace which surpasses all understanding is available to me. All I have to do is choose to bring whatever is disturbing me to God. He will cover my disturbance with His peace.

“Don’t be anxious about things; instead, pray. Pray about everything. He longs to hear your requests, so talk to God about your needs and be thankful for what has come. 7 And know that the peace of God (a peace that is beyond any and all of our human understanding) will stand watch over your hearts and minds in Jesus, the Anointed One.” (Philippians 4:6-7 The Voice)

Jesus even told us we were going to have tribulation, trials, distress, and frustration in this world, so why am I surprised or unprepared? He also promised that we could have peace, perfect peace in Him.

“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]” (John 16:33 AMPC)

In the midst of my distress I must remember that I have access to perfect peace and Jesus has already overcome the world. He has deprived it of power to harm me. No reason to be downcast. I can put my hope in God!

Faith Confession:

Lord thank You for the reminder that being overwhelmed and distressed is a choice. I don’t have to live there. I can choose to bring my concerns to You and choose to rest in Your perfect peace. My situation may not change but how I view it and react to it will change. When my perspective aligns with Your Word then I can walk confidently in Your peace even in the midst of a tsunami. Thank You for reminding me that You have overcome the world leaving it powerless to even harm me.

Be Encouraged! ❤
