Chosen by God!
“Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.” (Isaiah 41:10 AMPC)
There is nothing to fear because God is with us. We don’t have to be terrorized, discouraged, or dismayed by what is going on around us. God will strengthen us and harden us to difficulties. What seems difficult won’t be difficult when we walk in God’s strength. We have His help. He promises to hold us up with His victorious right hand of righteousness and justice.
I know this Scripture is important. I was reading a Christian novel this week and this very Scripture, Isaiah 41:9-10 was in the book. It hit me between the eyes and I reflected on it. Then a couple of days later the same Scripture is part of my SOAPing experience. When God does this I know He wants me to get something important.
I have to include verse 9 because it’s pivotal for me:
“You whom I [the Lord] have taken from the ends of the earth and have called from the corners of it, and said to you, You are My servant—I have chosen you and not cast you off [even though you are exiled].”
We are God’s servants, chosen by Him. He does not cast us off no matter what. There are consequences for our choices but God does not throw us away. With this mindset we can truly, “fear not.” God is with us so there is nothing to fear. Should fear grip us we need to remember no matter what we’re facing we do not face it alone. We don’t have to succumb to terror or be dismayed because God is our God. Nothing can defeat Him.
He is the Creator of the universe and He is our Abba Father. While our earthly father’s may not reflect this, there is a care in fatherhood, a love, a nurturing that brings out protectiveness. That’s how God feels about us. We are His children and He loves us.
He will strengthen us, the Hebrew word, ʼâmats, which means to be alert, physically (on foot) or mentally (in courage):—confirm, be courageous (of good courage, steadfastly minded, strong, stronger), establish, fortify, harden, increase, prevail, strengthen (self), make strong (obstinate, speed). He will empower us to face whatever comes.
We have God’s help. We have His promise to uphold us, the Hebrew word tâmak which means to sustain; by implication, to obtain, keep fast; figuratively, to help, follow close:—(take, up-) hold (up), maintain, retain, stay (up).
With God’s strength available to me and His promise to sustain me I am equipped to face anything that comes. I might not like what comes but I don’t have to be defeated by it.
Faith Confession:
Abba Father, I am thankful that I don’t have to be afraid of anything because You are with me. I don’t have to be discouraged because You are my God. We have a personal relationship. Thank You for strengthening me, making me alert physically and mentally. Thank You that I have courage and am steadfast, established, and fortified because of my union with You. Thank You for sustaining me with Your mighty right hand of righteousness and justice. Because of this I can truly, “fear not,” in life.
