I Must Be About My Father's Business

Chosen by God!

“You may think that the situation is hopeless, but God gives us more grace when we turn away from our own interests. That’s why Scripture says, God opposes the proud, but He pours out grace on the humble.” (James 4:6 The Voice)

You think! You determine that the situation is hopeless. BUT God! He gives us not just grace but more grace to handle any situation we may face. We receive His grace by turning away from our own interests. Humility is key to walking in God’s grace. It’s a reminder that we need Him.

A hopeless situation is an opportunity to trust God, allow Him to act, give us insight on what to do, so we can give Him glory. Hopeless situations are a breeding ground for God to show up mightily so that when it’s all said and done, everyone knows that only God could have done it. When we trust Him in the seemingly hopeless times, God can get great glory when we point people to Him. All we have to do is turn away from our interests and get involved in the things that interest Him.

Faith Confession:

Lord, let my heart beat in sync with Yours so that what concerns You also concerns me. Let me see life and people from Your perspective.

This Scripture gave me pause to think about what I spend my time on. Does what I’m consumed with impact souls, the Kingdom of God? Is it an opportunity for God’s more grace to show up? Will it last long after I’ve gone home to be with the Lord?

“Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” (Luke 2:49 NKJV)

I must make this my heart’s desire, to be about my Father’s business. When making decisions, choices, how I spend my time, how I relate to others, I must consider the Kingdom impact. My life must be motivated by being about His business. Some choices, some decisions will require sacrifice. There is a cost. I pray, like Jesus in Gethsemane, that when it costs me something I can respond with, “Nevertheless, not what I will [not what I desire], but as You will and desire.” (Matthew 26:39 AMPC)

Faith Confession:

Lord, may I always remember just how much I need You in every area of my life. Let me never get it twisted, thinking I can do anything on my own or in my own strength. I need Your guidance, strength, wisdom, insight, and so much more to be who You created me to be and to do what You created my to do. I believe You will empower me to do great things for You. Let me always remember that it’s all You. I’m just the vessel. Apart from You I can do nothing. Keep my humble Lord. Let my life reflect the life of Jesus, a life of humility, love, and serving others. Remind me daily that it is not about me. It’s about You. It’s about people. Thank You Abba Father for Your unconditional and everlasting love for people.
