Chosen by God!
We should assure people that they have not committed the unpardonable sin and encourage them to receive the gift of eternal life. When people worry that they may have committed the unpardonable sin, there are steps we can take to reassure them they can be forgiven of all sin. We can point them to:
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9 HCSB)
Then we can reassure them of God’s everlasting, unconditional love for us:
“Israel, out looking for a place to rest, met God out looking for them!” God told them, “I’ve never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love, and more love! And so now I’ll start over with you and build you up again, dear virgin Israel. (Jeremiah 31:3 MSG)
We can remind them that we are saved by grace through faith and not our works:
“For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—not from works, so that no one can boast.”(Ephesians 2:8-9 HCSB)
We can also point out God’s promise that nothing can separate us from His love for us:
“For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!” (Romans 8:38-39 HCSB)
God paid a dear price for our salvation. From His perspective we are not expendable. When we are quick to repent, turn from our sinful ways, He will forgive us. We have many examples of this in the Bible. God’s love for us is our assurance of His forgiveness.
