Chosen by God!
In order to see ourselves as God sees us we must look from His perspective. Everything God thinks about us and feels for us is outlined in His Word. Our first point was, “Know Who You Are.” Our second point was, “Be Aware of Your Thoughts." Today we will look at our third point:
#3 – What Are You Saying?
God used words to create the world. He said, “Let there be…!” And everything He declared became. He created us in His image and likeness.
“Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.” (Genesis 1:26 NLT)
He, God Jehovah, the Creator of the universe said this about His creation! He expects us to use words to create our lives, to move mountains, and change things. He wants us to find out what His Word says about a situation and apply that Word to change the situation. Some things we don’t even need to pray about! Just apply the Word in faith and keep stepping.
Your words are a creative force of power. Words are seed and they will produce a harvest. What kind of harvest, depends on what you've said. You can build lives, including your own, or demolish lives, including your own, based on what you say. Before you speak ask yourself, do I want this to come to pass in the person’s life I am talking to? Do you want it to come to pass in your own life? Remember you reap what you sow. You may direct the words at another but they can manifest in your life also. That's how powerful words are.
Jesus said, “But I tell you, on the day of judgment men will have to give account for every idle (inoperative, nonworking) word they speak.” (Matthew 12:36 AMPC)
So, ask yourself, do I want to explain my words to Jesus?
We have to take our words very seriously. Speak life! Speak blessings! And do what grandma used to say, "If you don't have anything nice to say, keep your mouth shut!"
Also consider the impact that the words you speak have on your own life. Where you are today is the result of the words you spoke yesterday. If you don't like where you are, or what you have, change what you're saying. Your words create your destiny. In the same way, words destroy your destiny.
Remember we are made in God's image and likeness. We're just like Him. He spoke creation into being by saying, "Let there be...!" And everything He declared became. Our words do the same thing in our own lives and in the lives of others. Think before you speak. Words are seed sown and they will reap a harvest. The question is, "Do you want that particular harvest?" If not, do a checkup from the neck up! Speak carefully remembering that words are seeds. The very things you say about someone else could become a part of your life.
"This is scary: You can tame a tiger, but you can't tame a tongue—it's never been done. The tongue runs wild, a wanton killer. With our tongues we bless God our Father; with the same tongues we curse the very men and women he made in his image. Curses and blessings out of the same mouth! My friends, this can't go on. A spring doesn't gush fresh water one day and brackish the next, does it? Apple trees don't bear strawberries, do they? Raspberry bushes don't bear apples, do they? You're not going to dip into a polluted mud hole and get a cup of clear, cool water, are you?” (James 3:7-12 MSG)
Prayer:
Father, forgive us for every word we've spoken that did not line up with what Your Word says about us. We ask for a crop failure for all of those words. Help us to speak consciously considering the impact that our words will have on others, and on ourselves. We declare that we will speak life and blessings from this moment forward. I pray this prayer in faith and on the authority of the Name of Jesus. Amen.
