Chosen by God!
“But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.” (Matthew 6:33 AMPC)
One of the lessons God taught me is to consider it, whatever "it" may be, from an eternal perspective. As a result I walk quietly away from many things. While I may have an opinion if it doesn't impact my destination, or theirs, do I really need to share it?
Full disclosure: Sometimes I don't use an eternal perspective in my interactions with others. Sometimes I do give an opinion. And sometimes I wish I'd kept quiet. He's still working on me!
“And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.” (Philippians 1:6 AMPC)
This doesn't mean I ignore social injustice or sin. It means I should weigh my input based on the Word of God. Will it build the Kingdom or will it destroy the Kingdom? Will God be glorified or will His name be profaned?
When I consider Him - some things will be left unsaid, undone, and purposely overlooked.
Maybe we should all consider Him first, those who are called by His Name and those who say they are. Let's purpose to honor the Name of the Lord in thought, word, and deed.
Let this be our prayer, for ourselves and for each other:
So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.” (Colossians 1:9-10 NLT)
