Pearls of Wisdom - Making Godly Decisions

Chosen by God!

Don’t be quick to say yes. While what you’re being asked to do may be a good thing you need to make sure it’s a God thing. In other words, is it your assignment? Many good things can be distractions and detours taking you off course. Even the simplest requests should be taken to God before responding.

“Is there anyone here who, planning to build a new house, doesn’t first sit down and figure the cost so you’ll know if you can complete it? If you only get the foundation laid and then run out of money, you’re going to look pretty foolish. Everyone passing by will poke fun at you: ‘He started something he couldn’t finish.’” (Luke 14:28-30 MSG)

Before you say yes, ask yourself if this will move you closer to walking in your divine purpose. If the answer is no ask God if His timing allows you to make a brief detour. Count the cost before you say yes, doing if afterwards could prove to be costly.

“Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 AMPC)

Make sure prayer is a part of your decision making process.

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.” (Philippians 4:6 AMPC)

One more thing, if people need an answer right away and are unwilling to give you time to pray before making a decision then the best response is:

“No, I don’t make decisions or commitments that I haven’t talked to my Abba Father about first.
