Chosen by God!
Forgiveness is definitely hard, especially in cases where you're attacked and don't understand why. It can fracture relationships. It's so important to be able to talk to the person that hurt us. Sometimes through communication we learn it was a misunderstanding.
The older I get the more I realize that forgiveness must be a lifestyle. I'm learning to try and see it from the other person’s perspective. What did I contribute to the issue? It's not easy when someone does what they do intentionally or when they don't accept your apology. I've learned I have to leave all of that with God. I don’t want anyone, or anything, to block my prayers or shut up God’s forgiveness to me. I refuse to give anyone that much power over me.
“In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can't get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God's part.” (Matthew 6:14-15 MSG)
This love walk and this forgiveness walk is definitely hard. I'm so thankful I don't have to rely on my ability to walk in it. (And those that have harmed me should be thankful too! IJS! LOL!) We have the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us through these rough waters. We have His ability to love even when we don't want to. We can choose to!
