Chosen by God!

“This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.” (John 15:12 NLT)

Jesus commanded us to love. I wonder how many of us really know how to love. Thankfully, He didn't leave how to walk this out to us alone. The Holy Spirit is a Guide to walking in love. Bottom line, love is a command and a matter of obedience. When you call yourself a Christian love should be flowing out of us.

God gave us the best example of selfless love through Jesus Christ:

“For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.” (John 3:16 AMPC)

Then He equipped us to be able to love even those we deem unlovable:

“For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” (Romans 5:5b NLT)

Here's a blueprint of what love in action looks like:

"Love never gives up.

Love cares more for others than for self.

Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.

Love doesn’t strut,

Doesn’t have a swelled head,

Doesn’t force itself on others,

Isn’t always “me first,”

Doesn’t fly off the handle,

Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,

Doesn’t revel when others grovel,

Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,

Puts up with anything,

Trusts God always,

Always looks for the best,

Never looks back,

But keeps going to the end.

Love never dies." (I Corinthians 13:4-8a MSG)
