Chosen by God!

What's the state of your heart?

“O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.” (Psalm 139:1 NLT)

God knows, but do you know?

If you really want to know the state of your heart take a look at these three things:

1. What you're thinking about:

"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." (Proverbs 23:7a AMPC)

2.What you're saying:

"A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart." (Luke 6:45 NLT)

3. What you're doing:

“And He said to all, If any person wills to come after Me, let him deny himself [disown himself, forget, lose sight of himself and his own interests, refuse and give up himself] and take up his cross daily and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying also].” (Luke 9:33 AMPC)

It all begins with a thought. What we think about is important because our thoughts govern our words and actions. And remember:

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].” (Proverbs 18:21 AMPC)

Our thoughts, words, and actions indicate the status of our hearts and create the life we live! Since thoughts impact words and words are a creative force we might want to think about what we are thinking about before we act in ways that do not glorify and bring honor to God.

Let this be our goal at all times:

“Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.” (Proverbs 4:23 AMPC)
