Chosen by God!
Today is the tenth day of my birthday month, New Year, New Season. I have left one year behind and have entered into a new year with new possibilities.
My focus today is on being thankful.
I’m thankful for a new day, God’s grace, life, family, friends, and enemies. Yes, I said enemies. Why? Because they show us what’s in us. It’s easy to be loving with those that love us. The test is, can we be loving around those that treat us poorly, talk about us, and even possibly hate us?
"You're familiar with the old written law, 'Love your friend,' and its unwritten companion, 'Hate your enemy.' I'm challenging that. I'm telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone-, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty. If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that. If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal? Any run-of-the-mill sinner does that.” (Mathew 5:43-47 MSG)
Abba, Father, help me to:
Love my enemies
Bless those that curse me
Do good for those that hate me
Pray for those that spitefully use me and persecute me
This is hard to do in the natural. Thankfully, we don't do it alone:
"For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love." (Romans 5:5 NLT)
Stay tuned, because God isn't finished with me yet!
