Birthday Month Reflections - Day 17

Chosen by God!

Today is the seventeenth day of my Birthday Month, New Year, and New Season. I have left one year behind and have entered into a new year with new possibilities.

My focus today is on embracing how God sees me!

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10 NLT)

Sometimes I can read Scripture without fully understanding what is being said to me and about me. The word that jumps out in this passage for me is masterpiece and dictionary.com defines masterpiece this way:

Master piece - a person's greatest piece of work; anything done with masterly skill; a consummate example of skill or excellence of any kind

This is how God, my Abba Father, sees me! He sees me as His masterpiece, His greatest work done with consummate skill and in excellence. I need to let that sink in a moment and ask myself, do I see myself this way? What value have I placed on myself, based on incorrect or misunderstood information that keeps me from believing this truth?

A masterpiece is considered valuable and priceless in the world. A masterpiece is unique, it is not mass produced, it is an original, one of a kind, and is not duplicated.

Keep in mind a copy is just that, a copy, and has little or no value at all. I wonder why we don’t value who we are and try so hard to be someone we are not. Even if we could copy another person’s style, or capture their mannerisms we would not be them. We would only be a poor imitation of someone else at the expense of the greatness that is inherently a part of who we were created to be.

How I see myself greatly impacts how I think, speak, and act. The sum total of who I am, and how I act begins, in my mind. My thought life greatly impacts the trajectory of my life. Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV) tells us, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” And wrong thoughts can take me down a path I never meant to travel.

This is why it’s so important that to align my thoughts with what the Word says about me and not what the world says about me. I have to be intentional about what I am thinking about. I must be quick to reject the lies and replace it with God’s truth. I must be vigilant about this making sure I protect my mind and heart from the lies of the enemy.

Reflection Nugget - Seeing me as God does requires a mindset reset! I can't keep thinking thoughts that don't align with God’s Word. What I think about the most is what I believe and what I become!

Stay tuned, because God isn't finished with me yet!
