Encouragement Nugget - Enter Boldly!

Chosen by God!

Declare that 2019 will be the year that Christians believe they can come boldly to God and share what's on our hearts. Let this be a goal you set for this year, and then do everything possible to live it out.

“Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.” (Hebrews 4:14-16 MSG)

Because the Lord Jesus Christ is your great high priest, you can enter God’s presence at any moment in order to share your deepest thoughts and needs, and to seek His direction. I think this statement is a powerful reminder that you do not have to face life’s challenges alone. You have a loving Father that will listen to everything you feel because of Jesus. He’s your High Priest and He intercedes on your behalf.

David also reminds you in Psalms 5:1-3 that you can speak it all out, unedited, to your loving Abba Father. David implores God to listen to his words, to hear his sighs. He asks God to pay attention to the sound of his cry. In other words, God, hear my heart. He reminds himself that he is talking to God and that He is his King, the One he is praying to. Finally, he shares that he is praying at daybreak, before he does anything else. He then tells God he is pleading his case to Him and He is waiting, watching for His answer with expectation.

This is one of my favorite Psalms. I especially love the Message version of this Psalm.

“Listen, God! Please, pay attention! Can you make sense of these ramblings, my groans and cries? King-God, I need your help. Every morning you’ll hear me at it again. Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on your altar and watch for fire to descend.” (Psalm 5:1-3 MSG)

You can hear David’s desperation as he calls out to God. He knows he’s rambling, saying everything he is feeling and when words won’t do so he just groans. He knows that only God can help him. There is nothing more he can do so he lays out his life before God, on the altar, which represents surrender, submission to God. In other words, God, if you don’t do this it won’t get done. Not only does he surrender, submit, his life to God, he does it with an expectation that God is going to show up!

Let David be your example. Surrender, submit your life to God with the expectation that He will show up!
