Choose God's Path for Your Life

December 31, 2015

Chosen by God!

“How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners or join a group of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. He is like a tree planted beside streams of water that bears its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.” (Psalm 1:1-3 HCSB)

Psalms 1:1-6 is a reminder to believers about how to make choices and to be anchored in Jesus, Who is the way, the truth, and the life. It also clearly shows the path of destruction for wrong choices. It reminds us to stay connected to God and to choose wisely who we hang out with. Our choices connect us to people.

We are not to follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners, or join a group of mockers. In other words we shouldn’t be seeking advice from unbelievers, do what’s popular in the world when it conflicts with the Word, or join in, becoming connected with, those destroying people with their mouths. Instead, our delight is the Lord’s instruction. This is about spending time in God’s Presence and in His Word, doing what Joshua 1:8 tells us:

"This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success." (Joshua 1:8 AMP)

When we do this we become anchored in Jesus, nourished by Him and bear fruit. We can be assured of our eternity, without fear of judgment. The Lord watches over the righteous while the way of the wicked leads to ruin.
