Chosen by God!
It is easy to become confused regarding those events that are natural disasters and illnesses and those that are direct attacks involving Satan and his evil forces when we don’t understand sin nature, the fall of man, and God’s redemption plan available to man. A lot of times Satan is blamed for things that he did not do but were a result of choices and disobedience. Sometimes people believe that as Christians we should be exempt from challenges and disaster, which is not true. Jesus told us clearly we would face challenges, but we could be of good cheer because He’s defeated them for us.
"I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]" (John 16:33 AMP).
Once sin entered the world it changed the makeup of the world and man. It also put distance between man and God. As a result of sin man must die, bodily, and the world, which is dominated by man, is sin based. Also, as a result of sin, through Jesus, man has the choice to live eternally with God, by accepting Jesus, or living eternally separated from God, in hell. Again, sin is the reason for events that happen in the world and in our lives. God does not cause disasters or illnesses.
We should use God’s spiritual resources so we can be victorious over Satan’s evil schemes. God did not leave us without resources or hope. We have His Word, the Holy Spirit, and the armor of God in which to combat evil. In all that we face we must remember, earth is not our home and while our bodies will die, our spirits will live eternally with God, if we’ve accepted His plan of salvation for our lives.
We must remember that Satan is already defeated. We must arm ourselves with the Word of God and all of the armor of God to walk in that victory.
