Encourage One Another

Chosen by God!

"So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing." (I Thessalonians 5:11 NLT)

We should provide encouragement for one another—especially for those who are lonely and disheartened. During times of loneliness and feeling disheartened someone reaching out to us can change our hearts and our day. Just knowing someone is thinking about us in the midst of what we may going through can feel like a touch from God, reminding us that we matter. Various forms of encouragement from other members of the family of God can change our attitude.

Encouragement blesses the giver and the receiver:

“That is, that I may be encouraged together with you while among you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine.” (Romans 1:12 NLT)

Jesus designed the Body of Christ to be connected, to be a family. He is the head, we are the body. We are connected to each other. As a result one person’s pain becomes every person’s pain.

“Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2 HCSB)

The love we show each other, the encouragement we give each other, is not just for believers. It’s who we are and should be given to all people.

“I am giving you a new commandment, that you [a]love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.”” (John 13:34-35 AMP)
