Stand Firm in Faith

Chosen by God!

To stand firm in our faith without wavering, we are to trust in the Lord wholeheartedly and demonstrate integrity in all that we do. Both Psalms 1 and 27 give clear instructions on how the righteous are to live, who we are to associate with, and what we can expect from God when we choose His way.

They remind us that we must choose who we go to for insight and advice. How can an unbeliever give us insight and even wisdom when they don’t have common ground with believers? Would you let a teacher operate on your body? No, we would go to the person with the expertise about the issue we’re having. The same is true in spiritual matters. We must seek wisdom from other believers, preferably spiritually mature believers, whose source is the Word and who have a solid relationship with the Lord.

As I read both Psalms I was reminded of this Scripture:

“Do not be mismatched with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?” (II Corinthians 6:14 HCSB)

I love the way the Message breaks it down:

“Don’t become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That’s not partnership; that’s war. Is light best friends with dark?” (II Corinthians 6:14 MSG)
