Chosen by God!

Because God’s Word is true and trustworthy, we should always evaluate all ideas and propositions in the light of Scripture. We should not evaluate the trustworthiness of Scripture in the light of scientific findings. Instead we should evaluate the trustworthiness of scientific findings in light of the Scriptures.

We can trust God’s Word over science because God does not change – science has and does. What they believed to be truth is later proved not to be truth. When God says it we can believe it because He does not contradict Himself, nor does He lie.

“For I am the Lord, I do not change.” (Malachi 3:6a NKJV)

“God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” (Numbers 23:19 NLT)

As believers we must make a decision to trust God and His Word even when it does not make sense. Since it took faith, not sight, to accept the gift of salvation, based on the Word of God – the promise of God – then we must also believe His Word in its totality regardless of science. We must remember God’s ways are higher than ours. Most importantly, we can trust God!

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (II Corinthians 5:7 NKJV)

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9 NLT)

Ultimately we should not discount science. It has its place. However, when science contradicts the Word of God we must choose the Word of God!
