Chosen by God!

We should do all we can to dwell together in love and unity so that those who do not know the Savior personally will believe. As much as it relies on us, we must do all we can to promote unity in the Body of Christ. We must do this without compromising specific doctrinal statements of Scripture. Love is the foundation of unity. When disharmony happens we can trace it back to a lack of love for one another.

When we love others we will preserve unity because it’s only by love that others will know we belong to Jesus and will be drawn to Him. Loving one another, even when it’s hard, maybe especially when it’s hard, is the best way we can promote unity in the Body of Christ and be witnesses to unbelievers. Believer’s that are quick to write off others, become offended, gossip, and promote discord cannot be walking in love. Love does not promote this type of behavior. The Word gives us a model of what love looks like:

“Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant. It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured. It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail]. Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening]. Love never fails [it never fades nor ends].” (I Corinthians 13:4-8a AMP)

When we use the Word as our guide we will promote unity and be living witnesses that God can use to transform lives.
