Chosen by God!

When we worship God, we should share our deepest feelings—our weaknesses, our fears, and our loneliness. While He wants to hear it all we must balance our feelings, needs, and weaknesses, with meeting God’s desire to spend time with us, to communicate with us, and for us to love and worship Him. He created us to worship Him and to bring Him glory. In approaching God this should always be an important part of our agenda.

Our encounters with God should always begin with worship that acknowledges who He is and what He means to us. Then we move on to praise, to set the atmosphere of communication remembering we are talking to our Abba Father not just someone that is there to meet our needs. Once we’ve spent time with Him through praise and worship we can then present our petitions before Him in a spirit of humility and trust.

Ultimately we should be coming to Him based on His Word, looking for His direction, wisdom, and insight to what is going on. It’s not a time of bringing a list of demands or needs. It’s a time of spending time with God, loving Him, worshipping Him, and offering praise and thanksgiving to Him.

It’s so important for us to keep praise and petition in their proper balance. This helps us to remember Who we are talking to and to honor and reverence Him, not take Him for granted. It helps us to keep a proper perspective of God while moving us from selfishness and self-centeredness to acknowledging His greatness and offering expressions of love to Him. We must never forget that we are coming into the presence of a holy God and be thankful that He sees us as righteous through the blood of Jesus.

And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” (Isaiah 6:3 NKJV)
