Worshipping God

Chosen by God!

When we worship God, we should ask the Holy Spirit to open our hearts to the Word of God so we’ll clearly understand His will for our lives. It is important to make the Word of God a priority in all aspects of our lives, this includes worship, our quiet time with Him, praise, prayer, and so much more.

When it comes to spending time with God my go to Scripture is:

“Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law.” (Palm 119:18 NKJV)

To know God we must know His Word. To know His Word we will know God. Who He is, is all in the Word. We can’t worship, praise, or become intimately acquainted with Him unless we spend time getting to know Him. It’s time in His Word that gives us our foundation in love. It helps us to experience His love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, and so much more in a greater measure.

“Your word I have treasured and stored in my heart, That I may not sin against You.” (Psalm 119:11 AMP)

Without His Word treasured by us and hidden in our hearts we will continually sin against God. It’s through having His Word in our hearts and treasuring it that we are equipped to please God.

Through God’s Word we can offer the deepest heart worship. His Word reflects His love for us.

“Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness].” (Genesis 1:26a AMP)

Since we are created in His image and likeness our hearts can only worship Him through His Word, which is the blueprint of who we are too! Worship that is not based on the Word, is just singing. While we may enjoy it God’s heart won’t be touched. Worship based in the Word touches not only God’s heart, but ours too! It’s only His Word that can change hearts and restore lives.

It comes down to what we believe worship is! God’s Word makes it clear that worship is based in spirit and truth. God’s Word is spirit and truth and without it our worship is of the flesh. With worship based on the Word it becomes spirit and truth nourishing our lives.

“But a time is coming and is already here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit [from the heart, the inner self] and in truth; for the Father seeks such people to be His worshipers.” (John 4:23 AMP)
