Chosen by God!
"But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:23-24 NLT)
When we lead others in worship, we are to help them focus on God rather than on ourselves. Worship leaders are to point people to Jesus rather than to themselves. It takes time in the Presence of God, being filled by Him to worship in the overflow of His filling. Their focus must be a personal, intimate, relationship with Him that has worship at its core. It can be so easy to get lost in adulation of people and forgot the reason for worship.
Having a heart for God causes worship to be about Him and pointing people to Him. As important as the worship leader’s job is the people must come prepared to worship. Worship doesn’t just happen, it’s the result of time in the Presence of God and the Word of God that develops a heart of worship!
(A personal prayer of preparation for Corporate Worship)
Father, prepare my heart to worship and praise You in the fellowship of my Church family. Forgive me for having a careless attitude about coming into Your House. Let me always remember the price You paid to give me freedom. I love You, Abba Father, and time in Your presence, at home, work, school, Church, or wherever I may be, is my heart’s desire.
Lord, may my life reflect a lifestyle of praise to You. Make my heart be confident in You so that I may boldly sing Your praises. Allow me to tell of Your greatness to all with whom I come in contact. Teach me to obey You so that I might become a reflection of Your love, grace, and mercy to others. I praise You, in advance, for the victory. I pray this prayer in faith and on the authority of the Name of Jesus. Amen.
