God's Word Changes Us

Chosen by God!

To walk in God’s will, we must allow His Word to penetrate our innermost being. It is important that we make sure our knowledge of Scripture impacts our total being otherwise we will never walk out the fullness of what Jesus did for us on Calvary.

“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” (John 10:10 AMP)

Jesus gave us fullness of life and we can only walk in it when the Word walks in us, so to speak. James tells us:

“But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his own face in a mirror. For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.” (James 1:22-24 HCSB)

This is a wonderful illustration of how we must receive the Word. We are to read it and then let it read us, showing us areas that we must change with the help of the Holy Spirit. Then we must apply it to every area of our lives.

“Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2 HCSB)

It is only through renewing our minds daily in the Word that our head knowledge of Scripture can become heart knowledge of Scripture that will continually direct our lives. The more Word we have that we apply to our lives the more the Word will infiltrate and impact our total being.
