Chosen by God!
Though we are to be diligent in studying the Scriptures, we are to earnestly ask God to enlighten our hearts and minds so we’ll be able to comprehend and apply His wisdom. It’s only through the Holy Spirit’s guidance that we will be able to understand and apply the Scriptures to our lives. It is critical that we ask God for wisdom even though we have His written Word at our disposal. It’s only through intimate relationship with God that we can rightly divide the truth. We cannot depend on our personal interpretation of the Bible.
“Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law.” (Psalm 119:18 NKJV)
We must seek wisdom and understanding that only the Holy Spirit can provide. I’m reminded that the Holy Spirit is part of the trinity and authored the Bible, He knows better than we what it means and what was intended.
“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever—the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.” (John 14:16-17 AMP)
