Know and Trust God's Word Above All Else

Chosen by God!

We must never add to or take away from God’s eternal Word as revealed in the Holy Scriptures. There are many examples of individuals that have purposely added to the inspired Word of God and led people out of the revealed will of God. This is why it is so important to know the Word of God for yourself. An example of this are those that preach univeralism where everyone is reconciled to Christ, regardless of accepting Jesus’ atonement or not, and there is no hell. This teaching negates the truth of the Word of God. The only way to salvation, and to God, is through Jesus Christ. There are no shortcuts or bypasses!

“I am the Door; anyone who enters through Me will be saved [and will live forever], and will go in and out [freely], and find pasture (spiritual security).” (John 10:9 AMP)

Jesus said to him, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” (John 14:6 AMP)

Whether we want to believe it or not there is a consequence to not accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior:

“And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15 NKJV)

Anything that negates, or compromises, the truth of the Word, no matter how appealing, cannot be trusted and should not be entertained. Again, this is another reason why spending the time in the Word is critical for the life and health of the believer. We can’t depend on others to teach us the Word. We must depend on the Holy Spirit to illuminate the Word of God for us so we can recognize error and act on it. We cannot allow charismatic personalities to shape our gospel when what they are preaching and teaching is not based on the uncompromised Word of God.

Remember this truth and don’t allow anyone to cause you to doubt it:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (II Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV)

Only God’s Word, and not people’s personalities, holds the key to eternal truth. God does not change and He does not lie. His Word is our sure foundation!

We have to settle this in our hearts:

“God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” (Numbers 23:19 NLT)

Because of this we can trust His Word and the Holy Spirit to illuminate the truth of His Word in our hearts.

“Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth.” (II Timothy 2:15 AMP)
