Preach the Whole Truth

Chosen by God!

When presenting the gospel, we must not only teach that God’s love extends to all people, but that His judgment will ultimately come when His offer of salvation is rejected. Sadly, from the legal perspective, we live in a world where there are laws in place to make sure we don’t offend sin, abortion, same sex marriages, removing God from everywhere they can. From the church perspective we don’t want to offend anyone either so we preach a feel good Gospel.

The church is not holding people accountable for sin nor are they preaching or teaching about hell. Instead, many are preaching and teaching that everyone is going to heaven and there is no hell. The church has blurred the lines and in their desire to fit in, to not offend anyone – especially those that have deep pockets, the Gospel being preached does not always reflect the Word of God. Additionally many are so focused on a prosperity Gospel they may not even remember that Jesus died to save the world, not make it rich!

We have reached a place where some Christians avoid talking about God’s judgment on unbelievers. While we are choosing not to hurt people’s feelings they are going to end up in hell. And while we serve a loving God He will bring judgment on those that do not accept His Son and repent for their sins. We must stop teaching and preaching a watered down, feel good, everyone is going to heaven no matter what, all you have to do is be good, Gospel and preach the truth.

The truth is we must believe, accept, Jesus, God’s gift to us, as Savior and make Him Lord of our lives. God does not want anyone to perish:

“For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 HCSB)

Jesus is the only way to everlasting life:

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6 HCSB)

There is a price to pay for sin:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23 HCSB)

Hell is real:

“And anyone not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15 HCSB)

We must be concerned with people’s souls and where they will spend eternity. We can’t become comfortable with this world that we forget it is temporary. We must remember a life without Jesus is an eternity without Jesus. We must be more concerned with people’s souls, and not with becoming megachurches, attaining wealth, and fame. The church must return to its first love – Jesus Christ and make that the focus. If we are going to count anything count the number of souls that are not going to hell!
