Chosen by God!
Though we are to look forward expectantly to ruling and reigning with Christ, there are some cautions all Christians should exercise. No matter what it looks like in the world we must continue to share the love of God and tell about the judgment of God. In all of the untruths and compromises being touted in the world as truth and reality, we must be careful never to compromise the Word of God even when it may be inconvenient or unpopular. Instead we must:
“Proclaim the message; persist in it whether convenient or not; rebuke, correct, and encourage with great patience and teaching. For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will multiply teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear something new. They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths.” (II Timothy 4:2-4 HCSB)
It can become easy to forget why we are on earth so we must remember our purpose, which is commanded in the Great Commission:
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20 HCSB)
God does not want any to perish so it’s important that we don’t get so comfortable in our own salvation that we don’t tell others about Jesus and the gift of salvation.
“The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.” (II Peter 3:9 HCSB)
No matter what is going on around us we must be salt and light, the moral and godly compass for the world! We set the standard.
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It’s no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled on by men. You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:13-14 HCSB)
As encouragement, we must remember that God’s grace equips us to live a life that glorifies Him.
“For the grace of God has appeared with salvation for all people, instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age, while we wait for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” (Titus 2:11-13 HCSB)
