Confidence in God

Chosen by God!

As members of Christ’s church, we are to thank and praise God and encourage one another with revelatory truth that Isaiah and other Old Testament prophets did not have. Though believers will receive glorified bodies “at the last trumpet,” it is important to emphasize the biblical truth that “to be out of the body” is to be “at home with the Lord.” (II Corinthians 5:8) What I hear is we can’t be tied to this world. We must remember that this is temporary and there is an eternal we must be convinced and live accordingly.

“Don’t collect for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But collect for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21 HCSB)

When we are focused on the eternal then our eyes are on Jesus and not the world.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” (Matthew 6:33 HCSB)

When our focus is on Jesus then we can hold this world loosely and the word of Paul can be echoed by us:

“For me, living is Christ and dying is gain. Now if I live on in the flesh, this means fruitful work for me; and I don’t know which one I should choose. I am pressured by both. I have the desire to depart and be with Christ—which is far better—but to remain in the flesh is more necessary for you.” (Philippians 1:21-24 HCSB)

Our reason for being here should always be kingdom focused, bringing glory to God by making disciples and sharing the God News of salvation through Jesus Christ.

As believers death should not be fearful because through death we are present with the Lord. While here on earth we are to make an impact on the world until we are called home to eternal rest with Christ. Whether we remain on earth, or go home to be with the Lord, we have eternal peace because nothing can separate us from God’s love. That’s the confidence we have in Him.

This Scripture gives great confidence and enormous peace:

“For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!” (Romans 8:38-39 HCSB)
