Prayer and the Word of God

Chosen by God!

“In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groanings too deep for words.” (Romans 8:26 AMP)

God knows and being connected to God gives us access. That’s why it’s so important to hide His Word in our hearts. One of the Holy Spirit’s jobs is to bring things to our remembrance, especially when we pray.

“But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.” (John 14:26 AMP)

Jesus reminded His disciples that the Holy Spirit would bring to remembrance all He said and did. The Holy Spirit does the same for us, He brings to remembrance the Word we have hidden in our heart. If we don’t spend time in the Word then He has nothing to work with.

The Holy Spirit is our, Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby. That means He is everything we need. So in those times when we can’t even think what to pray He comes along side us to help us. When we pray in conjunction with the Holy Spirit we pray even more powerfully. Praying God’s Word is the most powerful way we can pray. Want to know why? Because of these promises:

“Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.” (Jeremiah 1:12 AMP)

“So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

When our asking is based on His Word, and our faith is grounded in His Word, God will act. He says He watches over His Word to perform it, and that His Word would not return void, without producing any effect. God's Word is powerful and changes things. Got Word? Then you've got serious power! Thankful!
