Please God - Not People!

Chosen by God!

Trying to please everyone can cause us to make decisions that hinder God’s work. He doesn’t think the way we do and more importantly He sees the entire picture while we see the moment.

“For as heaven is higher than earth, so My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:9 HCSB)

When our focus is on pleasing people we can miss what God is doing and how He wants to use us to accomplish what He is doing.

As long as we’re people pleasers we will never accomplish God’s best. We will always be motivated by the people and not God. Think Aaron and Moses. Aaron pleased the people by making the golden calf they asked for and contributed to their sinning and potentially bringing them to their destruction.

Then the Lord said, “I have seen how stubborn and rebellious these people are. Now leave me alone so my fierce anger can blaze against them, and I will destroy them. Then I will make you, Moses, into a great nation.” (Exodus 32:9-10 NLT)

Moses interceded for the people and God spoke directly to Him. His intercession also kept God from destroying all of them and starting over with Moses. Moses got God to change His mind! Think about that a moment.

"So the Lord changed his mind about the terrible disaster he had threatened to bring on his people." (Exodus 32:14 NLT)

That's the power of intercession and it's an excellent example of why we need to be praying for others. It's also an example of the importance pleasing God and not people!

I am learning to live to please an audience of one, my Abba Father!
