Chosen by God!
In terms of communicating God’s truth, we should watch our words carefully when people want to engage in unprofitable communication. As believers we must be careful to avoid engaging in unprofitable conversation.
Our command is to encourage one another, to build each other up, not to tear one another down. Words can do both, that’s why it’s important to consider what we are saying, why we are saying it, and where we are saying it. Our conversations should have godly purpose. We should not give in to gossip, back biting, jealousy, envy, as each can result in unhealthy talk.
We must realize, and always remember, that our words are powerful and leave a lasting imprint on the minds of others. They may not seem impactful but the Word of God tells us:
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]." (Proverbs 18:21 AMPC)
"Words kill, words give life; they're either poison or fruit—you choose." (Proverbs 18:21 MSG)
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” (Proverbs 18:21 NLT)
Our words are powerful, they are a creative, life changing, force. For this reason we cannot speak casually.
"But I tell you, on the day of judgment men will have to give account for every idle (inoperative, nonworking) word they speak.(Matthew 12:36 AMPC)
We must ask ourselves before we speak, "Is this something I want to manifest in my life or in the life of the person I am speaking to, or the person I am speaking about?" “Will saying this honor God and build others up?”
In some cases we may have to ask God for a crop failure on every word we have spoken that did not line up with His Word and then start planting life giving words again. We serve a God of do overs and He gives us multiple times to get it right!
We must tread gently because God created every single person and Jesus died for each of us, even the ones we don’t like or get on our nerves. In reality to speak against God’s children is to speak against Him. We must consider our words carefully.
