Chosen by God!
“Daniel determined that he would not defile himself with the king’s food or with the wine he drank. So he asked permission from the chief official not to defile himself.” (Daniel 1:8 HCSB)
We must determine, make a decision about so many things. What we must consider is not making a decision, is a decision. When we're in this place it becomes easier to drift and become someone you don't recognize.
The same holds true with the Word. If we don't spend time in the Word we will never fulfill our purpose. We may accomplish some things but we'll never do all God intended when He created us. We must be determined and purposeful or we'll miss so much.
“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.” (Daniel 1:8 NKJV)
