Chosen by God!
When we have the Word in our hearts and coming out of our mouths we are dangerous to the devil! That's why he fights to distract us from reading and studying the Word. Knowing what is written is a matter of life and death!
We cannot minimize the importance of the Word because the Word changes us while protecting and strengthening us. Jesus defeated the devil with, "It is WRITTEN," referring to the Word of God. (See Matthew 4:1-11 to learn how to defeat the enemy and make him flee.) However if you don't know what is written you can be defeated. We're reminded of this in Hosea 4:6. "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."
While the world says what we don't know won't hurt us where the things of God are concerned, what we don't know will destroy us. We must continually study to show ourselves approved.
“Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.” (II Timothy 2:15)
Make it a practice to make the Word an essential part of your day. It could mean the difference between walking in victory or be mired in defeat. Jesus paid the price for our victory but when you don’t know that you won’t walk in it. The Word is our map to living life God’s way.
“This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.” (Joshua 1:8 AMPC)
