Chosen by God!
It is definitely hard to let go of the past and to forgive those that have hurt us. However, we have the Holy Spirit in us and He empowers us to do what we cannot do - but it's a choice we must make. And that choice is to obey!
Letting go of the past, forgiving those that have hurt us does not mean we deserved what they did to us. Nor does it mean they were right and we were wrong. It just means we will no longer allow them to continue hurting us by holding on to unforgiveness and the pain they caused.
"Do not [earnestly] remember the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:18-19 AMP)
Looking forward is a choice. The enemy does everything he can to keep us in the past because he wants to abort our future. If we don’t let go of the past we will never be able to move into our potential and purpose. Don’t let the enemy steal who you were meant to be because you can’t let go of the past. Don’t give anyone that much power over you.
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” (John 10:10 AMP)
The enemy will do all He can to distract, deter, diminish, and dismiss the plan that God has for our lives. He uses deceit. Cut him off at the pass with the Word, praise, and worship.
“Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.” (Psalm 8:2 NIV)
Every time you think of the past, the pain, the person who hurt you – don’t park there. Instead choose praise. Why? Because praise raises our awareness that God is with us. He will give you the strength to deal with those negative emotions.
“But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” (Psalm 22:3 KJV)
Praise changes everything. It stills the hand of the avenger and it brings Almighty God on the scene. Just think about it, Almighty God, inhabits, lives in, the praises of His people. There is nothing more powerful.
Remember this always:
It's a fixed fight and we've ALREADY won! Walk in it!
