Chosen by God!
We have finished reading the “will!”
On Day 1 our point was, “As a Child of God, You Have an Inheritance.” On Days 2 – 5 our point was, “Know the Gifts You Have Access To.” We looked at multiple gifts during those days. Know that these were just a sampling and God’s Word has many more gifts available to us as believers. I encourage you to search them out and walk in them. Today we will we will look at how important we are to God:
#6 – We are “Chosen by God!”
Ephesians 1:4-5 AMPC: “Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love. For He foreordained us (destined us, planned in love for us) to be adopted (revealed) as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the purpose of His will [because it pleased Him and was His kind intent].”
Think about the fullness of what this Scripture is saying:
We were Chosen, He picked us out for Himself (He picked us out! Long before our parents ever met we were on His mind. We were lovingly planned with purpose and He put destiny in our DNA! I don’t know about anyone else but I was the one who went to a team by default! It’s refreshing to know that God chose me, actually picked me out for His own!)
We are "In Christ!"
Before the foundation of the world we were on His mind. We are not an afterthought!
We are "Consecrated and set apart for Him."
Consecrated – separated from a common to a sacred use; devoted or dedicated to the service and worship of God (Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary)
How do we live consecrated and set apart lives?
Romans 12:1-2 MSG: "So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you."
We are "blameless in His sight" and "above reproach" before Him in love!
Colossians 1:21-23 NKJV: “And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight—if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.”
He destined and planned in love for us! And His plan includes purpose. We are here on purpose for purpose.
Jeremiah 29:10b-11 MSG: "I'll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for."
He always planned that we would be adopted – revealed; who we are is revealed through Jesus Christ. Until we know Jesus we will never know ourselves or walk in our potential.
As a result of this adoption we are His own children through Jesus Christ.
Why did He do all of this? Because it pleased Him and was His kind intent toward us – you and me!
Today, just rest in the fact that you were chosen by God! No matter who may reject you always remember you are "Chosen by God!" Let that be your confidence and peace today, and every day.
