Chosen by God!
“Then they told him, and said: “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan. Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” (Numbers 13:27-30 NKJV)
This Bible story always saddens me. After all God has done for the Israelites, and shown them, they couldn't trust Him to be victorious in battle and walk in the Promised Land. This is what the exodus out of Egypt was all about. How heartbreaking to be within reach of your goal, your freedom and choose to stay in bondage, to just give up hope.
How many times have I done the same thing? Looked a little too long at my circumstances, tried to figure things out on my own. Believing I couldn't, while forgetting that my Abba Father could and would!
I want a Caleb and Joshua outlook on every challenge I face:
“We are well able to overcome it....”
I want a Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego outlook on every challenge I face:
“Our God is well able…”
I may not be able to do it but when I stay connected with my loving Father all things are possible.
When I remember this I am empowered to face anything God allows to cross my path:
“I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].” (Philippians 4:13 AMPC)
