Chosen by God!
“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” (Matthew 17:5b NKJV)
But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” (John 2:5 NLT)
Listen and obey. Listen to Jesus and obey Jesus. So if we are commanded to listen to Him and to obey Him that means He is speaking. And when He speaks He is giving us information to act on – either internally for us, or externally for others. Listen. And. Obey.
“The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10:27 AMPC)
As His sheep we can hear Him speak when we are actively listening for His voice. We can only hear Him when we expect to hear him and are actively, expectantly, listening for His voice.
God is not asking us to listen, or suggesting we listen, He is commanding us to listen. If God is commanding us to listen to His Son then it is something we need to take very seriously. Also, if He is commanding us to listen then He has given us the ability to listen and hear.
God spoke audibly and directly to human beings during Jesus’ lifetime two times, during His baptism and during the Transfiguration. I think it’s something we need to take note of. He didn’t leave it to anyone else to tell us to listen to Jesus, He told us Himself.
Faith Confession:
Abba Father, thank You for perspective and revelation. Thank You for speaking to me and teaching me how to hear Your voice clearly in the noisiness of life. Thank You for drawing closer to me as I draw closer to You. Saturate me. Show me the best way to live continually aware of Your Presence in my life. I am eagerly seeking Your heart. Show me Your glory.
