Good Friday Reflection
Chosen by God!
“Then Pilate said to Him, ‘Do You not hear how many and how serious are the things they are testifying against You?’ But He made no reply to him, not even to a single accusation, so that the governor marveled greatly.” (Matthew 27:13-14 Amplified)
Jesus is facing the final hours of His life. He’s been falsely accused. Yet when asked about the accusations against Him, Jesus chooses silence. The Lamb of God, Who could have changed the outcome, chose to remain silent.
“Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly? But if I did, how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that describe what must happen now?” (Matthew 26:53-54 NLT)
Again, His focus was on doing the will of Him who sent Him. The cross was His destination, and He chose to complete His journey. He did not let the opinions of the crowd, or the words of the governor, change His destiny.
Every action, every word that Jesus spoke, was an opportunity to teach us how our lives should be, a reflection of a will that is committed to the will of God. Jesus lived with purpose and with destiny. Every step He took, every word He spoke, aligned Him with fulfilling the Father’s plan for our redemption. He never allowed Himself to forget why He was here.
