Chosen by God!
Today is the fifth day of my birthday month, my New Year.
My focus today is on reminding myself that I am not in control!
In order for me to have a successful, and productive, walk with God it is predicated on my ability to surrender to His authority and love in every area of my life. It means, for me, I can’t fix everything, no matter how much I try. And, more importantly, I should not even be trying to fix everything. Instead I must submit those things to God and seek His direction.
The very things that have made me successful in the corporate world have been, from time to time, stumbling blocks in my walk with the Lord. Believe it or not, God doesn’t need my help! Yep, that was a hard one for me. What I’ve learned is, God needs my obedience and cooperation. He doesn’t force us to do anything. He makes it all available to us but it’s ultimately up to us if we avail ourselves of it.
Control is really about power. God reminded me He is all powerful and when I am in Him and He is in me control isn’t necessary. Everything I need He has. I don’t have to make things happen! I can relax and walk in what God is doing, is creating for me.
One other thing I’ve learned: Love is more powerful than control.
That’s why the Word commands us to:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:30-31 NKJV)
When you have love you’re in control! Love will cause you to control your thoughts, words, and actions!
Love will cause you to:
“Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44 NKJV)
Yes, love is a powerful and it can transfomr lives.
