Chosen by God!
Today is the twenty ninth day of my Birthday Month, New Year, and New Season. I have left one year behind and have entered into a new year with new possibilities.
My focus today is on my words!
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]." (Proverbs 18:21 AMPC)
There is so much creative power in the words I speak. Sometimes I don’t think about the impact of that power and it is clearly reflected in the words I speak, to myself, to others, about others and even about myself. Every word creates. The question is, what am I creating – in my life and in the lives of others?
"Words kill, words give life; they're either poison or fruit—you choose." (Proverbs 18:21 MSG)
I don't want to be found guilty of murder! Yet, with every word I speak that doesn’t line up with the Word of God I am murdering something or someone. My inappropriate words can murder hopes, dreams, vision, life, and so much more, for others and for myself. I must also consider what I am saying to myself about myself.
Our minds are always going, always thinking, planning, and moving. This is why we are commanded to renew our minds. It begins with a thought. Then thoughts become words. Then words become actions and before you know it you're fully involved. I must intentionally think about what I am thinking about or I may end up someplace I never intended to be!
Another way to look at is words are seed. What you say to yourself, to others, about others, or about yourself, is what you plant and what you plant is what you will harvest. I must remember to ask myself before I speak, "Is this something I want to manifest in my life? Is this something I want to manifest in someone else’s life?"
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” (Proverbs 18:21 NLT)
This is my daily prayer:
“Take control of what I say, O Lord, and guard my lips.” (Psalm 141:3 NLT)
Faith Confession:
I am quick to hear and slow to speak. I listen to God and He listens to me. His Word abides in me and rules me. His Words are Spirit and life to me. The Lord has given me His Words of wisdom. Daily He opens my understanding to His will. I pray according to the will of God because I pray His Word. Lord, take control of what I say and guard my lips so my words honor you and encourage others.
Stay tuned, because God isn't finished with me yet! And I’m so thankful that He is not! The best is yet to come!
